Biography
Matt started practice with Shade & Shade in the fall of 2005. He is originally from Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and first came to the Delaware area in the fall of 1995 when he enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Matt was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 2005. He received his Juris Doctor, with honors, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2005. While at Ohio State he served as the Executive Editor of The Ohio State Journal On Dispute Resolution. He received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1999, and a Master of Arts from Miami University in 2001. Both of his undergraduate and graduate degrees are in history.
He served on the board of the Delaware County Historical Society for 12 years, including a term as Executive Vice President and for several years as editor of its newsletter. He attends Delaware Grace Brethren Church where he is a leader of a men’s Bible study group and was a member of its choir. He also volunteers his time to serve the men of his fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi, at Ohio Wesleyan, where he is currently president of its house corporation. He has served as president of his condominium association.
Matt enjoys reading and studying history, especially early American history. He served on Delaware’s Bicentennial committee in 2008. He served as a tour guide and helped write a local history of Upper Sandusky for its sesquicentennial in 1998. He enjoys traveling with his parents to the western United States, and you might spot one of his travel destinations on a calendar in the office, which frequently feature his photographs. He lives in Delaware.
